boot from NFS

Beitrag von csucsu »

Hi,

I have some question about booting:

1, how can I stop the boot process to enter the boot console?
2, is it possible to boot from NFS via nfsroot parameter ( ex: setenv bootargs console=ttyS0 root=/dev/nfs ip=10.1.0.6 nfsroot=10.1.0.7:/home/nfsroot ) ? - means I don't want to transfer some kind of image to the box, only booting from NFS.
3, is it possible to query any keypress on the box for some multiboot-like process?

regards, csucsu.

I guess that what you would like to do is to build your own customized u-boot. It is documented (in English!) here.

Hi,

thank you for your answer!

I can see this when I booting with IFA:

debug: DDF: Calibrating delay loop... debug: DDF: 66.76 BogoMIPS
debug: BMon V1.2 mID 03
debug: feID 00 enxID 03
debug: fpID 52 dsID http://Hallenberg.com
debug: HWrev 21 FPrev 0.23
debug: B/Ex/Fl(MB) 32/00/08
WATCHDOG reset enabled
debug: autoboot aborted from terminal ---- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dbox2:root>
dbox2:root> boot net net net net net net net net net net
debug:

Means somehow I could abort the boot process from a terminal. How?

regards, csucsu.

If you reset your box with Memtest (press "arrow up") a short time longer then the reset button the box should wait on "dbox2:root>" for boot net.
