JTAG cable

Beitrag von dbox2ilike »

Hi,

I wonder what JTAG cable works for Nokia Dbox2. Is there any schematic diagram for it?'

Thanks,
David

Then you have to take out the soldering iron, unsolder the flash chips and flash them in an external programmer.

Probably yes, but it does not mean that this interface is routed anywhere on the PCB. As the dbox was never intended to be flashed by anybody after leaving the factory, it does not have a JTAG interface.

yes you're right. but on most nokia dbox2 (say 99,5%) there's no way to connect to the required pins, as they aren't routed on PCB.
Only a very few nokia boxes have bound the needed signals from cpu to useable vias.
however, in general manners you couldn't brick your dbox by just flashing it. if you really brick it (e.g. by killing the bootloader) its most common to sold out flashes and to re-program it with a suitable device (programmer).
For further information use the search-engine of this forum.
Furthermore there is tons of info (unfortunately most in german language) about JTAG/BDM in here, too.

P.S.
damn, seife responded 3 minutes faster.

As previosely explained there is no JTAG connectivity in the majority of Dboxes. Only a small handfull might have had the functionality.

If you buggered up a flash desolder the chips and flash them externally

I did read your responses. I realized there is no JTAG interface on the PCB board. However, the interface can be extended directly from the processor pins. I wonder if anyone has ever home made a JTAG cable and jtagtools that work for DBOX2.

If you take a look at the PCB you'll find out that the CPU has no pins which could be extended. It's BGA.
