Dbox2 working then not responding

Had it all working fine. Went into EPG and accidently pressed record which appeared to lock up the box ('waiting to begin record...'). i reset the unit and now it doesn't boot and I cannot reconnect to flash.

Any help please, is there a master reset or something?

This is strange...

The dbox may lock up in some cases, but should reboot after resetting th box.

You may have to reflash the dbox2 (check, that you have your ucodes saved before trying to reflash the dbox2...).

If reflashing doesn't work:

- what does the box display after powering up on the LCD?

- Are you getting any log information from the box (serial boot log)?
Please post.

- What kind of an image did mess up the box?

- How didi you try to connect to the box for reflashing (ftp)? if so, please use dbox2bootmanager (or similar tools).


Anyway, please post a bootlog or flash log for more assistance...

It showed the load screen and just hung there. When I used the IFA it said it was flashing, showed the splash on the TV but no comms in the log - I decided to leave it that way for a good 1/2 an hour, rebooted and it came good. Not sure if it reflashed or just reset.

BTW what are ucodes

ucodes = Microcodes (m-[greek u]- codes)


... this is the firmware which is loaded into the different cpu's during startup procedure of the dbox2.

there are three types of ucode files.

ucode.bin
avia500.ux or avia600.ux (Avia-Chip firmware)
camalpha.bin (CAM-Chip firmware)

For all files, there are different versions. Last versions are recommended to avoid problems.

without proper firmware the dbox2 will not start/work correctly.
ucodes have to be uploaded to the box after flashing an image file.
ucodes are extracted from the original "Betanova operating system" software...

Great Ok then mine is a Nokia 2-1 intel flash roms (1-2?) which of the three are required for it and where do they go (FTP I presume?)

You need all 3 of them...

Whether you need AVIA500 or AVIA600 depends on your Avia CPU
(you can upload both avia500.ux and avia600.ux).
For watching pay tv (Premier, ORF), you need a proper camalpha (Cable, Sat).


upload them to /var/tuxbox/ucodes directory (binary ftp).
