Recording with cifs - Shutdown problem
Is there a known fix for Movieplayer when used to record to a cifs share? Only creates an xml file then shuts down.

Hi,
that's a known bug in older CIFS implementations and Avia500 MPEG-Decoder. The bug has been fixed a long time ago. The Movieplayer isn't involved in recording.
For direct recording to cifs-/nfs-shares you have to enable SPTS-Mode.
These are my last words to your annoying questions, install finally a legal and most recently image!
regards

Switch your Dbox with settings -> recording settings -> "switch to spts mode before recording" to on. And save the settings finally with the red button. Your recorded files will now have the ending .ts and you can play them with the movieplayer of the dbox. For playing them on the PC you'll need Media Player Classic.

Thx Dr
I didn't realise spts mode reset when hard booted?
Now I have that I am not getting the .1 & .0 files recording in the share and the dbox appears to be recording as there are no on screen errors - Just getting an xml file, no TS files as mentioned?
I have tried a few programs to demux? the .1 .0 files (DVX, muxxi) to no avail

you don't have to demux this files. The larger one contains the video and the smaller one the audio stream. So, if you try to work with this .0/.1 files you have to mux (not demux). Rename the large file to .mpv and the smaller to .m2a. In this case you can use all tools which can handle demuxed streams. (mpeg2schnitt, muxxi, etc). To only mux the files (for view in dbox movieplayer) you can use one of the older tools named "Wingrab" too. After mux you can recreate a .TS with project XI have tried a few programs to demux? the .1 .0 files (DVX, muxxi) to no avail

Got it
Records TS and playback in MoviePlayer . Nothing ever seems to work perfectly though... Video begins stuttering after 15sec or so, like a buffer underrun or something. Is Dbox capable of playing these streams or is it just my network not optimised enough?
I have a 100Mbs switched network, but some of the Eth cabling through the floor is a bit dodgy (nr Electrics etc) never really noticed a problem b4 with file shares
Telnet then run cmd; touch spts_mode - in /var/etc did the trick. Also reflashed B4 as i had run out of room in VarDu musst zuvor noch den spts-mode aktivieren, das kannst du durch anlegen (touch) einer Datei .spts_mode im Verzeichnis /var/etc

CIFS is not performant enough for streaming and the movieplayer, you should better install a NFS-Server. If you have a Windows Professional OS, try to install SFU, Services for Unix, you'll get it from Microsoft for free. You have to install the NFS-Server from SFU, more at http://wiki.tuxbox-cvs.sourceforge.net/SFU, but it's in German, hope it will help you.
