Need help on Debug 2xI bmon 1

I've put a few boxes in Debug but this one seems to have me.
2 x intel, bmon 1 (017a10081 32000 When I start the boot manager I get the following :-

icache
icache is on
chorus 800000
branching to 0x409b8 (which, I think is wrong, information says i should get 0x40000)?

after this the system keeps cycling saying

Can anyone help? I can ping the box ok.

I have also tried the minflsh but keep getting timeouts (cannot connect to dbox - timeout) I dont think the information regarding this method is great. I have erased the flash twice but still the same. where it says in the docs you have to interupt the boot when do you do this? It also says about disabling the write protection, when and for how long?
