I'm Italian and I don't understand nothing about german...

I have:
1) a d-box
2) a serial cable PIN-TO-PIN
3) a local network whit HUB and cables
4) S.u.S.E. Linux 7.3
5) WIN2k and D-BOX II BootManager

My problems are:
1) Once time my d-box started whit 1.4 Version, but now It tell me only "Lade ..."
2) I never upgraded my d-box.

I'd like to:
1) Wacht TV whit MY D-BOX !!!

How I can do? I tryed to upgrade the firmware but every docs are in german, and also the
D-Box II BootManager

Can Someone explain to me in "Dummy level" what I can do or what I need to do?

Hi tbf 2000,
it`s quite a bit tricky, to put a Dbox2 in the so called "Dbug Mode".
If it is done, you are be able to put a complete new Linux based
Software package on the box.
It only works for for the second generation of the Dbox.
I write it, because I em not shure whether you have one.

At first, you must switch your Box in the Debug Mode.
What brand is your box ? Nokia, Sagem Philips ?
Try to figure it out, and post it here.

I opened It and there are the two jumper XH4 and XH6 opens.

I tryed to configure the dhcp server under linux but in the suse 7.3 there was a changes and I have a lot of problems.

I found in english only a document but I need your help!

0. DBox over network cables and serial interface attach.

1. The correct network card it selects (where the DBox hangs), RARP must be activated.

2. Desired DBox IP checks / enters (must be from the same set of numbers as your network card) to

5. NFS root directory to select (zb.: c:\dbox2-original) best a new, empty directory creates,

7. DBox start (or reseten) - in the log window (at the PC display above) messages should come

Network communication - minimum test

then something are broken with your computer / network / network card (or it does not co-operate simply)!
(or you have a false IP selected) --> read you the following section! 10/100 MBit combination equipment
is MUCH FREQUENT debt that the BootP Request does not come!

Network configuration:
----------------------

A few things lead again and again to problems:

1. The network card, on which the DBox hangs, is on " IP automatically refers " adjusted.

Therefore they swallow the BootP Request, and nothing more functions!




DBox with CROSS cable with Win2000 or WinXP
------------------------------------------ T
he following problem emerges under Win2K or WinXP. The operating system assigns only then a IP to each network card,
as soon as a physical connection is detected over the network cable. In addition alone plugging
the network cable in is not enough, but at least once an electrical connection must have been made after each restart.
If now your DBox with a CROSS cable to the PC stuck on it, and the DBox is switched off, means for Win2K/XP that
it (still) does not assign IP to the network card. You can with ipconfig.exe check, there no IP for the card
displayed not separate only " cable one connects ". If you start thus then DBox boat (before you start the box),
DBox boat can pick no IP out for the network card, and does not display accordingly the respective network card
not in the list. The only solution, which I can now offer for it am to start, to put the box in once briefly
- and afterwards only DBox boat.

at first I ed like to say that I em also a "Rookie"
I switched my Box, a Sagem for Satellite with 1 Intel Flash rom
a few weeks ago in the debug mode.

I think the translation is quite ok.
That document refers to the Windows Boot Manager,
This Program runs under Win95 / 98, maybe others.
I used it under Win95.

Have you already identyfied your Box ? The Brand ?
Open the cover, and take a look to the kind of flash rom.

i have SAGEM with ONE INTEL Flash inside, and i need to flash this unit ..

I have everything i need for this, but i want to be sure what punkts i have to solder on board ... when i conect pin 14 on Intel Flash with 3.3 v, screen on Dbox is black ... when i conect pin 15 with 3.3 V, nothing happens, and also, i need to find out IP number of my Sagem !

after all this, i need to someone help me what files i need and how to flash Sagem ...

Hi!
For all the Poeple how want to take Linux to the DBox2:

1. You need some files, if your Dbox shows only "Lade" . You need minflsh.tar (untar it with untartilities!!), ucodes.rar. Sorry, that files are copyr***, but try to use http://www.google.com....
2. Easy to use is Win98, than you need DBoxBootmanager from Feldtech.
Connect the Box via Ethernet and Nullmodem-Cable.
First step is to bring the Dbox in Debugmode. Untar minflsh, change the Tuner.so with Flash.so and than rename to tuner.so. I recommend to set up your Network to 10Mbit Half Duplex, IP 192.169.136.2 and SM 255.255.255.0 for the Computer. RARP in DBBM on, BootP on and NFS on.
Start- Button, than start the Box. The box should answer the Ping in about a second. The problem is to find the Time for the shourtcut (CE at High on the Flash), normaly it is 0,5 sec after the Pingrequest. BE VERY CAREFULL
WITH THE WP- it is possible to kill the bootloader, and than you can nearly forget the Box!! IF you make a shortcut, and the box send a reply
on help, than (AND ONLY THAN) open the CE and short the WP. Use the ENABLE DEBUG WITH MINFLSH-Script- when it shows you , open the switch WP and switch the Box. When you switch it on again, it shows you in the Display more informations ( BN....), in that case the Debugmode is enabled!! For SAGEM-1xIntel: You can use minflsh and it is not nessesary
to short Pin 14. YOU NEED ONLY PIN15 to 3,3V (WP!!).

2.Step ist to flah an Image (28c). RARP off, NFS off, BootP please use a PPCBoot (from an actuell YADD). Please do not press start- go to Button
Utilities, click Image Flaschen, use the image and than start- after you switch on the box everything should go automaticly. After flashing (up to 15 min!!) reboot, put the Box to you TV and set up the Network again.
Than connect to your PC again and upload the Ucodes in the UCodesfolder by using FTP-Connection ( user: root, Passw. DBOX2). 3 files are necessary: Ucode.bin, aviaXXX(depending to your Chip) and camalpha.bin. The services.xml is going to zapit- thats it and have a lot of fun!!

lude-zuhaelter. Now after restart the display of the dbox show the same messages as before and after the TUXBOX logo whit loading... ...I'm not able to see nothing on the TV, so I cannot set up the network...

In a document I found this:

Disconnect your box from the power supply. You have to bridge XH4 and
XH6. Unfortunately, there are no jumpers in the newer boxes but
solder points. Just connect these point with a wire or cable.

1. REMOVE ALL JUMPERS!!!!! They are only nessesary for the Debugmode, and yours is in DEBUG!!! Otherwise you kill your Bootloader-
and than you can get your Box to the recycle-bin!!

2. After the Box boot, press on the Remote the DBOX-Button. Than Settings....Network. I Know, the colours are bullsh...., but you can see and setup the network. Well, after that, put the ucodes and the services.xml back and than it run!! Youre nearly on the end!! By the way, there is a possibility to get a newer Version- 1.013 under http://dboxupdate.berlios.de/flash/ . In Neutrino is a way to update a newer version- http://dboxupdate.berlios.de/update/. First install the basimage, ucodes and zapit via FTP back. Than via FTP the 2 files in temp,
NOT REBOOT; settings, update manual, serch new version- than you should have the 1.017 at the box. Note: if you download version, it is stored normaly as version.txt- rename it to version before you copy it!!!
Best FTP-Programm for that is http:\\www.ghishler.com ( wincommander).

put avia500.ux ore avia600.ux into /ucodes/
(depends on your box , look in it there on one of the uge chips there is a 500 oder a 600(L) )

put cam-alpha.bin into /ucodes/
put ucode.bin into /ucodes/

then say shutdown in menue on tv

now start dbox again , now the tv screen should not be pink
try to do then dbox key setup service scan ...

No jumper or bridge enabled, but the same problem... ...It start to boot like in a loop and is not possible to wacht anything... ...no pink screen, only a the BIG BLACK SCREEN !!!
You know this problem?

O.K. But the display on my dbox whit NEUTRINO is very COOL !!!

Congratulations you ere much faster as I thougt.
You`re alredy finished the most difficult step.
Switching to debug Mode.

I have had a similar problem in my short career.
I could fix it while I took a different image.
It also might be helpful if you use a different ppcboot in
conjunction to the Windows Boot Manager.
And finaly, you should post your log screen here in the board.
I can imagine that "our Experts" can find the potencial faults.

Now I re-flashed my dbox another time...
After this when I reset the dbox, the display flash in a strange mode... ...and freeze, then I restart another time and on the LCD display I have two choises:
1) NEUTRINO
2) ELITE-DVB

if I choose 1 or if I press the d-box button on the remote control, anything happen, the dbox restart in a loop whithout working.

if I choose 2 the display became black and nothing happen.

How many time the dbox spent for starting?
what's happened to my dbox?

Hi,
if you have the possibility to choose between
Neutrino & Elite you`re one step further.
Confirm Neutrino and hold on for a little while.

After your box has completly booted, press the Dbox button
and try to configure the network of the Box.
The IP address must be in conjunction to the IP address of
your computer.
Your PC has for an example 192.168.1. so the Box IP must be
192.168.1.2 !
After that procedure, try to connect via FTP and transfer the ucodes
to your box. Use any FTP Program (Win Commander, FTP Proof etc.
You will have them tonight.
Only with valid ucodes (Avia500, Avia600 camalpha.bin and ucode.bin)
the box will be able to work.

Ok...

Usually my dbox start and go in loop showing me this:
1st screen, the debug screen
2nd screen the neutrino's logo

if I disconnect the power for a few minutes and reconnect pressing the power-on button + up-arrow button for 10 seconds the dbox freeze on the neutrino's loo screen; I press another time the power-on button + up-arrow butto for 3 seconds and the dbox go to the screen whit neutrio and elite dvb screen, I choose 1 and I see the neutrino start screen, after I have a menu:
MENU
TV MODE
SCART MODE
SETTINGS
SHUTDOWN

Every choose I made the dbox restart in a loop like before.
In my TV I'm not able to see nothing !!!

What do you think about?

Hi,
have you tried another Image ?
Have you flashed a base or a complete Image ?
Have you ensured, that the Image is for you Flash Type ? 1 or 2 Intel ?
Have you checked whether there are no shortcuts ? by disabling
the write protection.

Hi Derget, HI DZ !!!
I flashed the dbox using the 28c, I followed your indications and now, finally is possible to enter in the menu.

But there are still problem...

1) In the COM SCREEN when I flash, I can't see nothing.
2) The TV-SCREEN is everytime black and no pink (I surf in the menu using the LCD screen of the dbox)
3) I uploaded the ucodes, but after shutdown the system, the dbox go in a loop and is not possible to do nothing.

One observation:
The network address in the dbox, after flashing, is already ok (192.168.0.202) and I don't need to change. (?)
