cron job to copy recorded files?

I like to schedule a cron job on the dbox which executes at night time. It should first check whether the dbox is recording and then, if not recording, copy over all new recorded files from HDD to an external NFS server.

Now I need your help, since I'm not at all a script guru.
Can someone write such a script

Finde ich gut, die Entwicklung eines scripts für das automatische Backup...schön, dass es hier doch immer wieder Neuentwicklungen gibt!

Bei einem Punkt muß ich dir aber recht geben (new.life), es ist irgendwie widersinning wenn die IDE-IF User jetzt wieder ihre Filme durch das Nadelöhr (10Mbit LAN) pressen...

It all depends on what one needs. In my case it's transcoding & streaming to different streaming clients in Lan and Internet. And I did consider external disks, but in the end I wanted a box which is closed and where only one powercable comes out.

Concerning the script, I coded something which does what I want on the win2k NFS server. So it pulls, rather than the box having to push.
