Nokia DBOX-2 Failing to boot, after upgrade. FS LOAD ERROR

Beitrag von C_H »

Hello,

I recently did a upgrade to my Nokia Dbox-2 via a internet connection,

All was looking good, but after a long period of time without responding, I de-powered the unit, Since then the unit fails to boot.

The LCD screen get stuck on:- Booting system, loading Kernel.

I can talk to the unit via RS232 but I can not talk to it Via a network connection.

While talking to it via RS232 (Bootmanager), I can ask it to load binary file via TFTP, and this then displays the Dbox-2 IP address which i can ping.

It looks like the Upgrade failed and has left my box brain dead!.

Can someone help me please!!.

You have to reflash the complete system (Utilities -> Image flashen).

1. base-image (Utilities -> Image flashen)
2. restart the box without Bootmanager running
2. FTP-upload cdk.cramfs & ucodes
3. let the box install the cdk.cramfs. Jjust follow the (german) instructions in the LCD
4. scan services
5. enjoy tv again :D

You may have to hold my hand through this, I am very new to the DBOX-2, have had the unit for 2 days and already wrecked it!

I can't seem to establish IP comms to the box. Or is that why you said to boot box first them start boot manager.

I have alexW2xBaseimageV1.6.8.img is this what I want to upload to the unit if I can re-establish comms via my NIC?

Sorry for all the dumb Questions

alexW2xBaseimageV1.6.8.img is for step 1.

Just klick on "Image flashen", select this file and restart the d-box. It should install the base-image then.

O.k. DieMade, I tried booting box then running boot manager.

But I can not ftp with my box because I do not know what the boxes IP address is. So I can not configure the DBOXII IP address in Bootmanager.

So when I click start and go to UTILITIES > IMAGE FLASHEN , it is greyed out because I haven't been able to establish TPC/IP communcations to the box because I am unsure of the boxes IP address?

I'm Sorry I am using English here, I hope it isn't enoying people to much, I'm not in Europe at all, Can't speak German at all. Sorry.

Don't pay attention to kolp :P

Press "Stop" before you try to flash the box and don't bother about "Pinging failed...". The dbox will have an address assigned by the Bootmanager itself.

DieMade, you know your stuff. I'm getting closer,

I tried STOP > UTILS > IMAGE FLASHEN > alexW2xbaseimageV1.6.8.img >

Comes back with an error "ERROR 10048 in function bind address already in use"

Well the message tells it all. Something else is running on ports 67/69.

Maybe you startet the bootmanager twice? Or is ICS running on the PC?

Using WinXP, I disabled ICS, now comes up with:-

At least this bit of German text should keep Kolp happy!

Configure your networkcard with a fixed IP (192.168.0.1) and set the IP for the dbox in Bootmanager to 192.168.0.42.

Then try again :D

O.k. configured IP as shown, then UTIL > image flashen > alex###.img

Comes up with:
BootP Server started port 67
TFTP server started port 69

Sits there?

Getting Close,

O.k. I got the AlexW2x####.img in the box, It has now asked me to FTP cdk.cramfs to the /tmp directory.

Just about to do that,

but can someone explain Ucodes to me?

I see I am suppose to upload them as well, But were do they come from and what do they do?

with ws-ftp you can transfer cdk.camfs and ucodes in your dbox,
remember the login:root and passwort:dbox or dbox2 i think.
ucodes are some files which are special for your hardware in your dbox there exits different types of chips and layouts, normally you become your own ucodes form your old opperation system betanova.this is explain in your readme of the bootmanager program,

for example , if you open your box there could be 2 intel chips inside or 1 intel chip oder amd chips.
