Philips DBox2, help!

Beitrag von JohnT »

Hi all,

I'm dutch and I speak only a little bit of german that's why this is in english.
I want to enable the debug mode on my Philips DBox (DSX 5180/02A).

I've been trying for a day now (including last night till this morning) to active this mode, so far no luck.
At least the Box still boots normal, pfffugh.

So I'm doing something wrong, something gets lost in my translation from german. :(
If I push and hold the [UP]-key I have 020010030 320008 in the green display.
I get "ChorusOS r3 rsh daemon good try :-) " in the DBox BootManager's RSH window.
But as soon as I use "copy_all.txt" script I get a mount error message.

What am I doing wrong? :o
Timing on the 'short circuit' operation?
Missing some software? (like minflsh?)

Are there some guidelines in english?
Or is there someone out there who can help me?

If you can't write in english, try german or even better dutch!! :D

Cheers, JohnT

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, Don Camillo.

I've tried everything by the letter and all other possible combinations but nothing so far.
I've checked all my kabels, checked inbetween two PC's both serial and UTP.
I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what??

Up till now no communication from the RS232 port on this box.
How can I check if this port is not broken, doesn't it show any live before it's in debug mode?

Cheers, John

@Don Camillo and others,

I've done it! :D
It had so much to do with the timing of the 'flash reset' and my german... :-?

Let the games begin....
