Nokia Dbox2 2xI doesnt boot, nothing on LCD, some logo on TV

I got this dbox from a friend (i dont know where he got it), without any instruction manuals... When I turn it on, nothing hapends. LCD stays black, but in about 30 seconds on TV it appeart D-Box logo for a few seconds and then turns off. and then logo apears again in 30 seconds (it loops). Again LCD shows nothing. But once it displayed "Fehlercode UD4" i pressed OK and now it doesnt show enything again.

I dont know what was hapening with this unit. I have Nullmodem and a network crossover cable.

I dont know what to do, i am total newby in this.

Help please.

Hi,

UD4 means, that there is no downstream available. Do you have plugged the aerial cable?

Is it a cable-tuner or satellite-tuner dBox?

Where do you come from?

sat tuner. If i plug the antenna nothing heapens also.

the only thing i managed until now is to connect it with network cable on 192.168.5.7 (found it on one page). then in that window when i type "help" i get a response, so the box is probably not completely dead. How can i now flash it or something. LCD is black all the time. Now the logo on TV doestn show up enymore....

To flash an alternative software, the dbox has to be in the so called "Debug-Mode". The display then shows a lot of weird characters like shown on this picture:

but your display stays dark, so the only way to determine if the debug mode is already enabled, is to listen to the serial interface of the dbox.

Probably your dbox has a defect...

i got in com-terminal that dbox is in debug mode, but now bootmanager dont wont to connect again... Why is that?

The box is alread in debug-mode but the original OS (BetaNova) seems to be defect since it does no longer boots from flash.

Also the LCD or the LCD-specific part inside the CPU ist defective.

Find the correct Version of BetaNova for this Box (Vendor-specific, so it's Nokia in your case), flash this into the box, generate and exchange the .did on the Box.

With this all , you should at least have a running Dbox2 with original OS but still a defective LCD.

To repair this one, you'll have to exchange the LCD. If it still doesn't display anything, then the CPU is likely to be defective.

P.S.: BetaNova is (c), so please don't ask us here where to get it from (but the internet is big and full of ressources).

OK, i found some firmware (betanova 6.5 and original nokia firmware 2.4) but now what?

by the way; yesterday on LCD there was fehlercode UD4 and betanova logo (or something like that)... maybe lcd isnt completely defected...

This is firmware for dbox1, doesn't fit on the dbox2 at all.

Regarding the LCD: some versions of the Nokia Dbox2 with BMon 1.2 (like yours) are unable to initialize the LCD within the BMON but the LCD itself is working as soon as the real OS is running.

well i found some firmware on emule (Nokia.Bn3.0.2x1.Sat.Betanova.Dbox2.rar, cca. 6MB) , but it will take time to download. Then, when i have this file(s) what then? How to flash?

BN3.0 is some some testsoftware with MHP-support. Please look for version 2.0 or 2.01 - the 3.0 is not recommended.

i flashed (tried) that firmware version 1.6. On LCD it said "neutrino" or something like that. But box doest boot on your own.
