need help & info on a dbox tuner

can someone please add me to their msn messenger list or email,brianmarshall1978@hotmail.com.i have just purchased a nokia dbox2 with cross-over cable and software.i need info on where to buy a tuner to tune all the desired channels.and need help with the image software,please help.thanks brimarsh

the cd with the software i got has everything on it but when i try to open the files it tells me that windows cant open the file and it tells me to install something but when i go to the webpage it is unavailable,i have a nokia d box 2 with all software,crossover cable but cant tune it to work with all uk sattelite channels.and do i need some kind of tuner to tune the channels.i am willing to pay someone that can run me through it through msn messenger as i am looking to purchase more d boxes.i am a quick learner with computers so i can also promise you a hassle free hour of your time(if it takes that long)

Are you talking about UK Sat TV (Sky) or UK Cable TV (NTL or TW)

The only programs you will get on 28 Astra will be the free BBC Channels, or you could try the 19,2 Astra or the 13 Hotbird for european Sat TV.

We are helping for free, but we need some information to understand to problem.

Did you do just a "channel/service search"?

Do you have a channellist of your providers satellite?
Worst case would be to include the frequency and other date manually into the service.xml list of the dbox2.

Ok, step by step..

1.) you dbox menues are in English?
If not -> Switch Language.
If you do not understand German Menue texts, Altavista Babelfish or Google has some translation help...

Otherwise: <dbox-key> --> 4 Einstellungen --> 8 Sprache --> ...


2.) Channelsearch can be found in <dbox2-key> -> Service --> Servicescan
Check if Scan setup is correctly set for your system/antenna/lnb

3.) do a channel scan (service scan)


4.) normally your emailed service.xml should fit.
Your antenna settings might not match. (see above).

The Problem is he want's to use his dbox with a Sat Image on a UK Cable Provider.
You will need to change the Settings on the box in /var/tuxbox/config/scan.conf and you must upload a new cables.xml that scan's on your UK Cable Provider for Fec 3 with either a Symbol rate of 6952000 or 6887000 ....

As I mentioned before just google and you will find your answers closer to home as you think...
