Cant Connect DBOX2 to PC

I'm having trouble connecting my DBox2 to my PC, via a ethernet crossover cable, need help just to get connected

I trying to edit my Bouquets via my PC, i have been trying to do this via the ftp interface & various Bouquest editors like Bouquet Wizard or 123 DBox for example.

These are the Network Settings on my DBox2

Start network at Boot On

DHCP Off
IP Address 192.168.5.202
Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0
Broadcast 192.168.5.225

Default gateway 192.168.100.4
DNS Server 192.168.254.2

Mount Network volume all say "auto no"


Settings on my PCs Network Card, Local area connection

IP Address 192.168.5.202
Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0
Default gateway 192.168.100.4

line speed & Duplex 10Mbps / Half Duplex

I get a 10Mbps connection on the Local area connection, but the ftp interface & any software i try cant connect to the DBox

If can ping the DBox from the PC

I have tried the above Local area connection & included the DNS Server 192.168.254.2, still no joy

I have tried changing the I/P on the DBox, no joy.

Tried setting the Local area connection to obtain I/P automaticly, no joy

Have turned off & uninstalled my firewall, no joy

My DBox2 is connected to my PC via a crossover ethernet cable, no router in between.

What am i doing wrong???????//

Don't mix up the IP networks:

Try something like this:
Network Settings on my DBox2

Start network at Boot On
DHCP Off
IP Address 192.168.254.202
Subnet Mask 225.225.255.0
Broadcast 192.168.254.225

Default gateway 192.168.254.XX (if exists)
DNS Server don't care (maybe 192.168.254.XX)

Mount Network volume all say "auto no"

Settings on the PCs Network Card, Local area connection

IP Address 192.168.254.201
Subnet Mask 225.225.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.254.XX (if exists)

line speed & Duplex 10Mbps / Half Duplex

replace XX with last part of the IP of the gateway
make sure that all IPs have the same 1st 3 Bytes (nameserver may be different)

your dBox and Pc can't have the same IP-Adress! Try the following:

dBox:
Start network at Boot On
DHCP Off
IP Address 192.168.5.202
Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0
Broadcast 192.168.5.255

PC:
P Address 192.168.5.201
Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0

Gateway and DNS don't interest (in this scenario)...

is their a diffrence between an ethernet cable and a crossover cable?,
i need to flash my dbox2 with a new image but whatever i do i cannot get a connection


any help

crossover is for a direct connection between a pc and the Dbox
A normal ethernet cable is for the connection of a PC to a Hub/Switch/Router and then from Hub/Switch/Router to the Dbox
