KEIN System...Help Please!!!!

Beitrag von Dazzo »

Hi

Hopefully the person who can help me speaks english as I know very very little german.

I tried to flash my Nokia D-Box 2 today, tried a few images and then on the last one it booted, but when I rebooted it came up with KEIN System on the screen.

I am trying to use DBox boot manager to recover, but no joy so far....

When I connect and reboot I get this:

dbox2:root> debug: DDF: Calibrating delay loop... debug: DDF: 67.79 BogoMIPS
debug: WATCHDOG RESET
debug: BMon V1.2 mID 01
debug: feID 7a gtxID 0b
debug: fpID 5a dsID 01-77.06.83.07.00.00-97
debug: HWrev 09 FPrev 0.81
debug: B/Ex/Fl(MB) 32/00/08
WATCHDOG reset enabled
dbox2:root> debug:
BOOTP/TFTP bootstrap loader (v0.3)
debug:
debug: Transmitting BOOTP request via broadcast
debug: Got BOOTP reply from Server IP 192.168.136.100, My IP 192.168.136.3
debug: Sending TFTP-request for file C/Documents and Settings/davida/Desktop/D B
ox2/various files/ppcboot/PPCBOOT

And also at the bottom on the screen it says Pinging DBoxII...Failed!

Which I can't understand....do I have to apply the IP address to the DBox, or should the boot manager give it?

I am using the same Cross Over cable that I was using when web browsing ....and I have the arp entry on my PC

Help Please

I have the same problem and I hope there is anyone who can help.

Allerdings ist bei einem Kumpel beim Updaten die Box abgeschmiert und nun macht sie beim booten nach ..loading kernel nicht mehr weiter.

@Dazzo:

Looks like your have some firewall/antivirus software which blocks the bootmanager.

@GwF-ToM:

Du hast nicht das gleiche Problem und bei dem Image, das Du flashen willst, wird Dir hier auch niemand helfen.

Maybe the path is a problem, try without spaces.

Example: c:\dbox\PPCBOOT

No matter what I do, I cannot ping the dbox....if I put in the ip address of my router its shows as Pinging doboxII...ok(0ms), so I know my physical connection is fine

Is there any way to manually enter a IP address into this unit rather than using bootp??

I have disabled firewalls antivirus etc.

The red marked line is the problem.
Your D-Box2 does not find the DHCP/BOOTP server and therefore cannot boot via network. Because this doesn't work, it tries to boot (betanova) from flash. The flash is, unfortunately, without correct file system...

Maybe you have some kind of firewall active which blocks the requests? You could also try to do a memory test and manually boot with "boot net" at the COM terminal.

Take a look here for your problem:

Hi

I have tried this suggestion.

I have disabled the firewall, but I get Pinging DboxII...Failed on the bottom of boot manager.

I have tried different crossover cables, I am now going via a switch with straight through cables.

Is there a way to manually assign an IP address to the Dbox in this mode? Maybe with the Seteth command?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

That's correct, as there is no IP-address yet, so the box cannot be pinged in this state.
I have tried different crossover cables, I am now going via a switch with straight through cables.
Crossover works fine (I use a patch cable, but together with a patch<->crossover adapter), but switch/hub should work also.
Is there a way to manually assign an IP address to the Dbox in this mode? Maybe with the Seteth command?
No, there isn't.

Try a memtest and then a manual "boot net" (this is the only way it works for me, but DHCP/TFTP/NFS servers are emulated on my host machine).

Disable every network connection except the one connected to the box.

I cannot help any further...
