Missing diacritic characters in Total TV EPG

Beitrag von aladaar »

Dear developers,

I hope you will forgive me for posting in English here, but my German is not good enough to precisely describe the problem. Ich kann Deutsch reden und lesen, aber nicht so gut ...

I use Dreambox 500 S with Enigma image v3.60 . The problem is complete lack of diacritic characters (Š Đ Ž Č Ć) in Electronic Program Guide for all channels coming from provider Total TV (Eutelsat W2 16E). Every time a string containing diacritic characters is displayed, a following message appears in dreambox's log file, coming from cvs.tuxbox-cvs.sourceforge.net/tuxbox/apps/tuxbox/enigma/lib/base/estring.cpp

unsup. Basic Multilingual Plane of ISO/IEC 10646-1 enc.

I can only assume that EPG coming from Total TV provider has diacritic characters somehow encoded in Unicode, but I am not sure. I have tried toying with /var/tuxbox.../encoding.conf, but without success.

My question is: how easy (or difficult) would it be to add support for those missing "basic multilingual planes" so that diacritic characters in EPG strings are displayed properly?

I am a good programmer myself and I can compile Enigma from CVS. Therefore, if a fix is provided (or only some hints how to fix the problem), I would gladly test it on my Dreambox and give feedback.

If anyone needs to contact me, please either do it via this system or using my email address: aladaar [at] gmail [dot] com .

Regards,
Zoltan
